WELCOME TO THE BLACK SEA... THE SOFTEST SAND IN EUROPE
Cities Visited: Nesebar, Varna, & Sunny Beach
It's 6am. it's summer time in eastern europe. aka hot & muggy. to our surprise, queen & adam lambert just finished an outdoor concert right underneath the palace of PARLIAMENT in bucharest (quick peek of that here). we definitely attended (see romania here). we're definitely hung over. there's now a 7 hour bus ride ahead of us with no a/c (long sigh). next stop: sunny beach, bulgaria.
(7 hours later)... well, we're here? Kind of. they dropped us off (only us) at a gas station about 10 mins from our hotel. to this day, we still don't know why that was the drop off location. anyway... we had to get the gas station to call a taxi and now we're here!!! we're staying right on the beach, the temperature is much cooler, the sand is sooooooo soft, and all we want to do is relax...
but then... my wife haaas to show me a sign that reads, "see our Excursions!! day trips to istanbul!!" saaaay whaaa?!?! We've been trying to go to istanbul, turkey for a loooong time. we had to cancel two trips (and lost money) to istanbul earlier that year. Do i have your attention? good, cuz that's an even better story on the istanbul turkey page here...
The time we spent in bulgaria was great! it wasn't long but it was quiet and relaxing on sunny beach. I would recommend booking a resort near that area or as close as you can get to the black sea.
Taylor Tip: There's a ton of cheap all-inclusive resorts on or near sunny beach. If you're gonna spend some time relaxing on the black sea (and not taking 7hr bus rides excursions) then take advantage of them!
